Finally the OB visit
Friday I went to see my OB for my final 6 week check up. He came in and asked how things were, he last saw us at the memorial. Then how I was healing, fine, then he said "really how are you doing mentally?" I never really thought about my OB asking me that. Granted I'm sure he'd want to know one as a human and two as a doctor since he knows I want a baby he probably wants to make sure I'm 'stable' enough for it. So basically he said no babies for 6 months, c-sections for every baby here on out, probable modified bed rest for the next baby, mild prophylactic antibiotics from onset of pregnancy, progesterone shots starting at 20 weeks an oh yea... I'll probably never carry full term. The last one he was trying to politely say without coming out and stating the fact but that's what he was getting at. I meet with the specialist on Tuesday so we'll see if they have anymore information to add or hopefully take away! My care will rotate between the two OBs for the next baby. Granted this may change according to what Dr Webb (my specialist) says, but for now this is what I have to go off of. So we'll see. I hate that I have to wait for 6 months but if it's either that or go thru this ordeal again, I'll take the waiting.

What is exactly is the reason that you don't carry full-term?
Did he mention a cervical cerclage at all? (Where they sew your cervix closed until you deliver.) You would probably benefit from that, too.
I am glad that it did go well though. I am also glad you have an OB that cares enough to realize the mental question is important. I cannot imagine your mental state, but I can imagine that having an OB or Specialist who cares enough to ask is vital. As for not carrying full term, well again no major baby weight, lol. Seriously, if all the things you listed will help in keeping you well & the baby well, then it is worth every suggestion. I love you girl. Glad you are in good hands. Oh yeah, I guess we both have a six month countdown (you know what I mean :) ).
He did mention a cerclage, and the risks of it ( I guess it can pop the water sack) but I"m sure I'll opt for it anyways. And Kim, I'm not sure why my cervix dilates, and I can't carry full term, if only we had the answer to that question! I'll let you know what the other guy says tomorrow
I'm so glad that you have some answers and a plan of action! I always feel so much better when there's a plan, no matter the if's and unknowns...I am a little jealous, though, that you'll be able to keep your great pre-pregnancy body, though, while the rest of us jiggle in the shower ;) TWO MORE DAYS!!
Ok, I wasn't sure if there was a name for that condition or not. I've heard of women having to do the cerclage but pretty much having to be on bed rest.
